Today, I experimented with Alizarin Crimson in gouache wash on hot-pressed paper by Schut (140 lb—100% Rag). Dimensions are 22” x 30”. Available in the store.

In Buddhist meditation, the Tanka showcases a deity. Color blocks assist the viewer in guiding the eye into the Tanka. Similarly, I use the crimson line to guide the viewer across the paper to experience the tones of color.

I work with active water on larger sheets of paper as the water evaporates. In this piece, I’ve offset color blocks and added a color band in the middle as a central anchor for the eye to follow as other tonal values unfold around the center viewing arena for the viewer.

I also painted a Koi painting of a fish from my koi pond.

Thank you for looking!
